Watch ‘Over The Edge’ starring Matt Dillon, Pamela Ludwig (Dreyfus) & Michael Eric Kramer

Have you seen this movie? A lot of people haven’t. Lucky for you, you can watch it here…

It’s about a group of kids that live in the suburb of a new construction community. The rec center in the area is shut down because the kids are doing and dealing drugs from it and the kids are bored because they now have nothing to do so they cause trouble, eventually getting one kid killed and others sent to a detention center.

Supposedly, based on the opening credits, it’s based on true accounts. And if you’re anything like I was as a teen, one without the internet, cell phones and iPods, you will probably relate well with this movie. It’s a tad cheesy in the sense that it’s a 1979 movie, but if you overlook the cheesiness, you’ll find a deeply connecting movie, one that’s stayed with me for many years.

Most of us in our 30’s have seen it because when we were teenagers, this film was in circulation on HBO (remember Qube and P-10 LOL?) and it surprised many of us as we watched in awe what these teens were doing, on our TV’s! LOL I remember being so mesmerized by this movie, and by Matt Dillon. LOL I think this movie helped create my first crush.

Over The Edge w/ Matt Dillon 1979

Who cannot have a crush on this kid? Surprisingly, this film didn’t receive as much notoriety as it should have. I know for myself and many others out there, it’s one of those films you can watch over and over. It’s one of my all time faves, even now at my age.

If you haven’t seen it and you’re 18 and under or 29 – 40, it’s a must watch. It teaches us the very importance of activities for youths and the trouble it can cause when they have nothing to occupy their time.

Funny thing, I didn’t know the moral of this movie until now. As a teen, I just thought it was a sweet ass flick. LOL

Netflix has a copy of it but not on ‘Watch Instantly’. I’ll send mine back tomorrow so someone else can watch this must see 🙂 In fact, it so much of a must see, here’s a link to YouTube so you can watch it now. Go on, do it. You’ll be glad you did 😉
